I will forever be grateful to have used Tara Gupta for arranging a trip to Russia, a destination of interest to my husband. He suffered a very severe, and ultimately fatal, medical event while we were away on this trip. Tara was right by my side (over the phone and internet) throughout the ordeal. She was calm, focused and very clear headed. She guided me with great care and concern and excellent focus as I navigated the medical care, the expenses, how and whether to have a family member fly to join me and the emotional upset. This was the first trip that we had ever used a travel consultant for and I am so, so, so glad that we had Tara on the team. While this was a very difficult experience it would have been so much more so without Tara’s professional service and extensive knowledge. Thank you Tara!

I’d like to comment on my experiences with Tara Gupta, who was our personal travel consultant. My initial contact with Tara was by email as I live in Singapore and the time difference made it very difficult to do phone conversations. I mentioned what I was looking for, a return to Rome and Pompeii to relive the memories I had when I had traveled there as a child with my parents. I suggested also the Amalfi area but would have also opted for other areas further inland. My target was culture, some history, some romance and some free time. Tara came back with a couple of ideas after a phone call with her. Just from what I had suggested and, from what she interpreted that I wanted, she put together the exact package that I was looking for: a nice (but not outrageously expensive) 4 day stay in Rome and an over-the-top luxury (my desire) in Sorrento with excursions.
So what did I actually get? I arranged our travel to Rome. First of all we were met at the airport by a smartly dressed chauffeur and transferred to our hotel by luxury Mercedes. The hotel, Residenzia di Ripetta was charming, a converted convent, immaculately and thoughtfully decorated but with a truly welcoming and warm staff. The location could not have been more central. In the 4 days we had 2 tours, each was in the morning. Afternoons were at leisure with excellent suggested itineraries. Our guide was excellent, very good English and passionate about the art and this history of his Rome. He was our guide for the coliseum, Roman forum and Pantheon, and the two days later, the Vatican and St Peter’s.
The transfer to Sorrento was a long one, but again we were met with a big Mercedes and our driver whisked us to Pompeii where we were treated to possibly the very best guide one could have asked for. I was in love with his knowledge and his hospitality, taking us to a local Neapolitan pizza joint (wow!) on the way to Herculaneum. I later researched our guide and found out that he actually teaches and coaches other guide and has published historical accounts of the two cities. The transfer ended in Sorrento where we were deposited in the most romantic hotel, on the cliff over the beach, the magnificent Bellevue Syrene. It was expensive when Tara told me about it, but stunning, worth every penny. Again, a day of leisure, another day trip to Ravella, Amalfi and Positano by private driver/guide. A day trip to Capri in a small boat (not private but boutique nonetheless with amazing guides) and the entire trip was complete.
I dreaded the last day, not because it was the end but of the ordeal to get out of Italy. Transfer by limo to Naples Train station, then to Rome by train, then transfer by limo to Rome airport was all accomplished with ease and delight. Everything went like clockwork, but did not feel as if I were on the clock. Amazing all went perfectly.
I still do not know how Tara arranged the cool weather (for August). I would definitely recommend using Tara’s services again!
We recently returned from a 12 day trip to Europe (8/13-8/25) and Tara Gupta of Mundi travel planned our trip. We decided to employ the services of a travel agent because we were two couples living in different states who wanted to come together and travel together in Rome. It was going to be challenging to design a trip that would make everyone happy. Ultimately, we found Tara through the American Express Trave services under Italy “specialists”. Right away we knew that she was passionate about travel and passionate about traveling to Italy!
From the beginning Tara listened to what we wanted (and did not want) in a trip and took into consideration our need for “stuctured time” versus “uplanned time”, and of course our budget! She chose beautiful hotels in strategic, convenient locations in Rome, Florence and the Cinque Terre, hired drivers to transport us to and from the airport, scheduled wine and bicycle tours (in Tuscany) and tours with entertaining and knowledgeable English speaking Rome/Florence/Vatican experts (we never had to wait in line to enter the most important sites) and she purchased our train tickets/transfers!
Tara checked with us at every step of the way as she planned and developed our trips (after leaving Florence/Tuscany my husband and I wanted to go to the CT and my brother and sister-in-law wanted to see Venice). She emailed us infomation about the cities we visited, travel and cultural tips, and a day by day itinerary –complete with phone and contact numbers– before we left the States. She booked all of our train tickets (for travel between cities while in Italy). During the trip, I would tear off that day’s itinerary page and keep it in my bag for reference. At least twice during the planning stages, we had two big conference calls with the four of us. Tara’s enthusiasm and love for Italy was infectious and she was genuinely excited as she described what she had in mind for us. Each time we spoke with her or received more information about the trip in our emails the more excited we became!
With the exception of the night tour of Rome, everything was nearly perfect! That tour was not perfect (though it was still good) because 1) some of the sights (i.e., the Colisseum) were not lit at night when we were there; and, we were having a difficult time staying awake becuase of jet lag. Other than that, our trip was amazing. If I had a dollar for every time one of us said how happy we were that we found Tara—well, I could afford to go back tomorrow!
Tara is the consummate travel professional: thorough, enthusiastic, candid, experienced and she listens! Please consider asking her to plan your next trip to Italy! You won’t regret it!
Tara Gupta has been my travel agent for over 3 years now and when I need to book a vacay, I call her up without hesitation, she is the best in the business.
My last trip she planned was to Cabo San Lucas. She planned the entire trip including flight, hotel (all inclusive), transfers, and other accommodations, for the best price you can find on the planet. When our party arrived at our hotel, Tara had booked us a 3 bedroom penthouse with Ocean View which was a HUGE surprise to us. Everybody in our group literally dropped their jaw when we went on the balcony. My party was more surprised than I was, because I know how thoughtful Tara is, she goes above and beyond to make sure that her clients trips are memorable ones.

I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with Tara on our travel plans for our first trip to Europe. She was absolutely amazing. She put together a 3 week itinerary for us to travel to Netherlands, France, Spain & Italy. What she was able to accomplish within a few days, would’ve taken me at least 2 weeks to do myself.
After the initial itinerary was complete, she spend a great deal of time on the phone with me to ensure that each line item was exactly how I wanted. She was very detail-oriented and went out of her way to ensure there were absolutely no errors. Her consultation was absolutely valuable because she showed A LOT of passion and enthusiasm. She would check in on us from time to time even during the trip to ensure everything was going as planned. The hotels she placed us in were in very central locations, making it convenient for us to get to different places.
I can’t think of any other travel agent, or individual for that matter, who has put this much care and effort into ensuring a successful trip. She was very polite and professional and I would definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a travel agent, to go through Tara and Mundi Travel. This is the 2nd time I’ve had the pleasure of working with Tara and I definitely look forward to working with her again.
2 thumbs way up and 5 excellent stars. Thanks again Tara !
This review is for a FREE travel consultation that I signed up for, which was with Tara. I’m a bit of wary things usually, but since I had some time, I thought I’d give it a try, hoping that I would not be pestered endlessly afterwards.
Tara was extremely professional, warm. She gave me a lot of good advice about a trip to the Galapagos Islands, and only at the end of the call did she talk about her services. She was very upfront with my concerns regarding being charged a higher price through their agency – and offered for me to look up a preliminary itinerary and she will let me know if she can price match it before I even pay the deposit.
I’m still in the process of figuring things out but if I were to go with anyone, it would be with Tara at Mundi for my travel needs.
